Milo Austin

Hello, my name is Milo, I am a nineteen-year-old artist and I have lived in Medford my whole life. I feel very connected to the community here and to the greater Boston area as a whole. To me being an artist is very meaningful. Being an artist comes with responsibility. A responsibility to treat my platform with respect and to make my voice heard. My work talks about topics that are important to my day-to-day life and also the lives of those around me. I want to be an artist that is not afraid to make a statement or to be judged. I want to spread love and life energy to those who need it.  

  “Old Glory” is a piece about gun culture in the United States.  

Our values as a country are out of touch with reality. In today's time there is almost no separation between American culture and owning a gun. The separation is created between the people. A separation between neighbors, friends, and family. It is a separation that pushes people apart, drawing a long line down the social fabric of our country. “Political” issues tear families in half, but there is nothing political about saving lives or about having safe places to learn. Guns are machines that were created to kill. Guns are America.
