Katie Cornog

I am a watercolor artist living in Medford, Massachusetts, and have been

painting in watercolor for about 10 years. I paint both en plein air and in the

studio, working from photographs, sketches, and direct observation. My

work focuses primarily on landscapes in a representational style. I am

especially interested in using the fluidity, transparency, and unpredictability

of watercolor to convey the moods and emotions that landscapes can

evoke.

I am a juried member of the North Shore Art Association and a member of

the Newburyport Art Watercolor Interest Group, Newton Watercolor Society,

and New England Watercolor Society. My work has been included in many

juried shows in the Boston area.

For this show, my paintings reflect the pursuit of happiness through people

spending time outdoors, enjoying nature, scenery, relaxation, and the

company of friends and family. The variety and beauty of the American

landscape is one of the great sources of pleasure we share in this country.

“March Day at the Beach” shows people enjoying an unexpectedly warm

March day on a North Shore beach. Some visitors were in bathing suits,

while others were still dressed for the season, simply wandering and taking

in the day. After a cold New England winter, a warm day in March can feel

like a true gift.

“Bell Rock Stroll, Sedona” shows a couple experiencing the splendor of the

Coconino National Forest as they walk along one of the recreational paths

in the Red Rock trail network. The clear blue sky, red rock formations, dark

green pines, and monumental scale of the landscape attract and astonish

visitors from across the country.

More of my work can be found on my website, katiecornog.com, and on

Instagram at @catwings80.
